Bio
I am currently a Masters student and apart from studying and teaching, I absolutely love to travel. I was fortunate enough to put these two together and travel to Asia and teach South Korean learners.
It's my mission to demonstrate to learners that studying can be fun! I try to create lessons that are fun, enjoyable, and memorable. I also put the needs of my students first, whether it's a specific learning style, or needing to take a few minutes to breathe and relax before a big exam. I think it's crucial for students to know that the most important thing is that they do their best!
Education
• 2014 - 2016: BA English, Philosophy, Psychology (University of the Western Cape)
• 2017: BA Honours Philosophy (UWC)
• 2020: BA Honours Psychology (Stellenbosch)
• 2021: MA Philosophy (UWC)
My Proudest
Achievements
• Moving abroad to South Korea all by myself to teach English, which was a dream since I was little.
• Being accepted as a Masters student. I always thought people with a Masters degree were super smart!
• Obtaining a full bursary for one of my postgraduate degrees.
Subjects
Afrikaans
Grade 1 - Grade 12 NSCI have worked with many learners from all grades in primary and high school and have shown them that Afrikaans can actually be fun! I especially encourage older students to watch Afrikaans programs (like 7de Laan!) which helps us use the language in a more stress-free environment!
Life Sciences (Biology)
Grade 1 - Grade 12 NSCI absolutely loved Biology at school! I also continued to take biology-related modules at university simply for enjoyment. Learning about the human body and brain and how it works was my favorite, especially how problems with the brain develop the symptoms we see in people.
History
Grade 1 - Grade 12 NSCHistory is its own form of storytelling, both beautiful and tragic stories. Memorizing a lot of dates and information is scary for any learner, so I try and create a style of storytelling to help learners remember their coursework in an easy and fun way!
Philosophy
First Year - PostgradAfter completing my BA, I was awarded a full bursary for my Honours in Philosophy, where I studied the field of Personal Identity more closely while tutoring undergraduate Philosophy students. I am now a Masters student in Philosophy, and studying what I love!
Psychology
First Year - PostgradDuring my BA, I was in the top 3 of all Psychology students, which was well over 1000. Psychology has always been incredibly interesting to me, and I absolutely love learning more about the workings of the human mind.
