Literary study has touched me at the deepest levels. Sharing such an experience with others makes me breathe.
At New York University I studied with some of the most exciting teachers and theorists in English Education. I have read widely and can make use of creative, communicative and interesting strategies. Adept with both strong and weak learners. Expert in the development of writing and reading skills. I am friendly, can listen and can evoke young people's power to learn.

• Master's Degree in English Education (New York University), after studying at UNISA. I have taught first-year English and Academic Development for twenty years at the University of the Western Cape.

• My dearest achievement has been the sense of adventure shared with so many students as we travelled together through the jungles of words, sentences and books. Co-authoring a profound, accessible book: The 'Unexpected Voice: Theory, Practice, and Identity in the Writing Classroom.
